F&F Fine Wines International, in partnership with Costco, has issued a voluntary recall for more than 940,000 bottles of Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG due to a serious safety concern. The recall was initiated after reports that the glass bottles could shatter or break, posing a significant laceration hazard to consumers.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on November 6, 2025, stating that the importer, F&F Fine Wines, has received at least ten reports of bottles breaking or shattering. These incidents have resulted in one confirmed injury involving a laceration. The official recall notice urges consumers to immediately stop handling the affected products to avoid potential harm.
The recall specifically applies to 750mL bottles with Costco item number 1092875 and lot code L25114## printed on the bottleneck. These bottles were sold exclusively at Costco warehouses nationwide and through Costco.com between July 8, 2025, and October 26, 2025. It is important to note that the quality of the prosecco itself is not in question; the recall is entirely related to the integrity of the glass packaging. Details on the widespread consumer recall have been reported by multiple national news outlets.
Consumers who have purchased the affected prosecco should not attempt to open, drink from, or dispose of the bottles themselves. Instead, they are instructed to contact F&F Fine Wines International directly to receive a full refund. To process the refund, consumers will be asked to provide a photo of the bottle. After their request is processed, they will receive instructions on how to safely dispose of the product. Information about the refund process highlights that consumers do not need to return the bottle to the store.
