A celebration for a one-year-old child turned into a scene of carnage in Stockton, California, on Saturday night after two assailants opened fire on a party, killing four adults and wounding ten other people. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the attack took place at approximately 8:45 p.m. at The Grand Hall Banquet & Event Center in the city’s south side.

The suspects, who have not been identified, reportedly arrived in a dark-colored SUV and fired numerous rounds from outside the building, shattering windows and striking guests inside. Authorities stated that the attackers specifically targeted the event, though a motive remains under investigation. According to a report by the Associated Press, Sheriff Patrick Withrow described it as a "horrific act of violence" and a "very targeted event." The shooters fled the scene immediately after the attack and a manhunt is currently underway.

The victims who died were identified as two men and two women, though their names have not yet been released pending family notification.
