Fugitive Sex Offender Found After 13 Years Living as New York College Student

US Marshals Service fugitive task force

Anthony Lennon, a convicted sex offender listed as one of Oklahoma’s "Ten Most Wanted" fugitives, has been arrested in upstate New York, ending a 13-year manhunt. He was discovered living under an assumed identity and was enrolled as a student at a local university, according to federal authorities. His capture on October 30, 2025, closes a case that began with what appeared to be a violent crime scene.

Lennon vanished in March 2012 from a Super 8 motel in Moore, Oklahoma. At the time, he was already a registered sex offender and was facing eight new felony counts for possession of child pornography. Responding to the scene, Moore Police Department detectives found a significant amount of blood and signs of a struggle, leading them to initially investigate his disappearance as a potential abduction or homicide. However, authorities now allege that he meticulously staged the entire incident to escape prosecution.

For over a decade, Lennon managed to live under the radar using an alias. He was apprehended at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Plattsburgh, where he was a student. The breakthrough in the cold case came after the U.S. Marshals Service received a crucial tip. The investigation gained momentum when advanced facial recognition technology was used to compare a recent driver's license photo issued to Lennon's alias with his original 2012 mugshot, resulting in a positive match. This technological advancement was instrumental in confirming his identity and whereabouts.

The arrest was carried out without incident by members of the U.S. Marshals Service’s Northern New York Fugitive Task Force. Lennon is currently being held in custody and awaits extradition to Oklahoma. He will now face the outstanding charges that he fled from more than a decade ago. The original charges highlighted a significant legal case, and he could face additional penalties related to his flight from justice.
