A series of investigations, spurred by hacked and leaked emails, is shedding new light on the extensive and previously obscure ties between the late financier Jeffrey Epstein and Israeli intelligence. The documents reveal a close partnership with former Israeli Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ehud Barak, focused on leveraging Epstein's connections to market sophisticated Israeli surveillance and security services to foreign governments.
Hacked emails from Barak detail a relationship that went far beyond social acquaintance. The correspondence shows the two discussing business opportunities arising from global instability. In one exchange, Epstein noted that "civil unrest exploding... and the desperation of those in power" created a perfect environment for Barak's ventures, to which Barak reportedly agreed. These discussions often took place while arranging visits to Epstein's properties, including his private Caribbean island, with Barak sometimes seeking to travel without his security detail.
The collaboration centered on promoting Israeli-developed security technology. Epstein and Barak reportedly worked to facilitate sales to nations like Côte d’Ivoire, acting as intermediaries for Israeli intelligence and defense firms. One notable company involved was Carbyne Corporation, which markets an advanced emergency response platform. Leaked documents suggest the technology also functions as a powerful surveillance tool, capable of harvesting high-resolution location data and environmental feeds from callers, effectively embedding a data collection grid into civil infrastructure. This business model aimed to turn security needs into opportunities for intelligence gathering and profit.
The revelations extend beyond Barak. Reports indicate that other figures connected to Israeli intelligence, such as spy Yoni Koren, were frequent and long-term guests at Epstein's New York mansion. These deepening connections have intensified scrutiny in the United States, where the House of Representatives is facing renewed pressure to vote on releasing government files related to Epstein's activities. The disclosures raise critical questions about the nature of Epstein's network and whether he operated as a conduit for Israeli intelligence interests.
