An Annapolis, Maryland man has been arrested after he allegedly pointed a handgun at three 12-year-old girls who were singing Christmas carols in his neighborhood on a Sunday evening.
The incident occurred in Anne Arundel County when the three girls knocked on the door of 51-year-old Scott Timothy Kucirek. According to police reports, instead of a holiday greeting, the man opened the door, pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the children, and told them to leave his property. The girls fled immediately and contacted the police.
When officers arrived, local law enforcement responded to a weapons complaint and made contact with Kucirek, who initially denied possessing a firearm. However, authorities later recovered a loaded handgun from his residence. Court documents revealed that Kucirek was belligerent with officers and eventually admitted to having been drinking prior to the incident, stating he was annoyed by the knocking at his door.
Kucirek was taken into custody and now faces multiple assault and endangerment charges, including three counts of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. Following his arrest, he was released on his own recognizance by a district court commissioner. The conditions of his release include having no contact with the victims, refraining from possessing firearms or ammunition, and abstaining from alcohol. The incident has drawn shock and concern from the local community, highlighting a frightening end to what was meant to be a joyful holiday tradition for the young carolers.
